Wii U Concept Grand Prix Racing Ideas

Well we heard the rumors of a possible Gran Turismo style racing game for Wii U codenamed Concept Grand Prix. The game supposedly will have extreme realistic physics and be similar to Project Gotham Racing and to sounds to be similar to the game on the Xbox called Apex where you start from the ground up building your own company and machines.  It seems Concept Grand Prix goes a little deeper with designing your car including going all the way down to the spark plugs.

Now looking back through the posts on Gaming Centrum I seem to remember a Tokyo Street Demo for the Wii U (Video below) where the person is moving the Wii U tablet around the world scene. It was showing the world from the point of view of where the tablet is positioned.

The first part shows the Tokyo Street Demo:

Now put the two together and what do you have. You have a racing game where you can use the tablet to look around you while you are driving. So say you are driving around in the game with this game and the Wii U tablet. You are in the camera mode that shows the world and surroundings with your car not in view while driving around turns and etc you can actually look to your left or right or even up by moving the tablet in that direction. You can also see behind you via looking at the actual tablet screen. It seems this would immerse yourself more into the game than before.

Now let us slightly switch views. In the game, you would switch to inside the car. You can see all of the dash and instrument panels. You have your left and right mirrors outside of the car and your rear view mirror.  With the tablet while racing you can move the tablet right or left to view the mirrors or just move the tablet slightly up to get a better view of the rear view mirror making the game more realistic.

Now of course more than likely on the tablet screen as well you will have car statistics meaning how your tires are doing, if the engine is getting too hot, what part of the car is affected during the race, etc.

You will still have lap information and speed gauges on the screen but this is depending on which camera mode it is set to. Again, inside the car with the dash showing if you move the tablet over say the speed gauge, heat gauge, oil gauge, etc you can actually zoom in to see what the gauge states all while driving which can be seen on the TV.

This was just some ideas about the Wii U controller and racing games.

The Wii U will bring more interactivity to games as like never before. The experience will outweigh graphical ability, which, by the way, will be fine with resolutions at 720p or higher with near 60 frames per second.
