Microsoft has made plans to expand its $99 Xbox 360 subscription program. Consumers are able to pick up the 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect for just $99 and are required to pay $14.99 a month for two years. The program was initially just available in Microsoft stores and it has since expanded to Best Buy and at select number of GameStop.

Microsoft plans to make the program available in more retailers in the coming weeks. The program will be available at all GameStop outlets, Wal-Mart and Toys R Us.

Microsoft is also adding two new bundles to the program. Consumers can now pick up an Xbox 360 with a 250GB hard drive for $99 and an Xbox 360 with a 250GB hard drive and Kinect for $149. Both will require a two year subscription and cost $14.99 per month.

"We wanted to see if we would get sustained consumer excitement and willingness from partners to get this in retail," said Microsoft's GM of marketing Matt Barlow, speaking with the Wall Street journal. Due to the previous success of the program Microsoft plans to maintain the program for the foreseeable future and is looking at bringing the program to international markets.

Barlow suggested that the program could be coming to future product launches, which means it could be available for the next Xbox at launch. "This type of program is pivotal to our business," he added.
