Hundreds of Nintendo fans braved the cold weather last Thursday night, as Nintendo celebrated the Wii U launch at HMV’s flagship store on Oxford Street.
The official midnight launch event saw the first hundred fans in the queue rewarded with a free copy of New Super Mario Bros. U, and another Wii U game of their choice from a chosen selection.
Izzy Rahman fronted the queue, and officially became the first consumer to purchase the Wii U within the United Kingdom.
Mario and Luigi were in attendance, with emergency Pizza Hut supplies keeping everyone in the queue well nourished throughout the evening.
Once the doors opened at 11pm, fans shuffled into the warmth where they were shown Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U and ZombiU in action, with Wii U goody bags and prizes up for grabs.
